We put in the last 3/4 of the dock this afternoon. We have a new trick, where we are using a new plan of screwing in the ends of the long segment rather than just having feet that sit on the bottom. Hopefully this will make it so that we will have less destruction by windstorms when we have only the partial dock installed. It takes a little longer to install this way, but not much.

We made an error in placing of the dock segments, and had to redo some work, but it wasn't really all that terrible a mistake and we recovered. We spent a long time leveling and straightening, but the first time there's a big windstorm, the waves will move things around a little bit anyway, and it will not be straight anymore. Which is good, because after we had screwed in the last outer end bit, we discovered that it had become un-straight already.

In keeping with previous years, I will record the water and air temperature, 69 and 85, though it was cloudy and didn't seem all that warm. We wore eighth inch wetsuits, and I was a little bit cold at the end. It actually rained on us a little bit (what? we would get wet?), and I was briefly concerned about thunderstorm potential, but it was just a little sprinkle.

Anyway, it was about 2 1/2 hours in the water, and another hour and a half before that messing about with parts and making sure we had everything and drilling out old bolts and replacing them and so forth. There was one broken part from last year's damage that we were surprised at, but unexpectedly we had a spare, so we were able to go ahead.
