I enjoyed Barbie, but after the first 15 min of "Oh, look, Barbie doesn't act like a real human" because no water in shower, she floats between floors, etc, it just seemed like *all* the jokes were really about the patriarchy. I think that the observations were spot-on, and I don't have any problem with pointing them out. I just don't think that it's funny, and the people are laughing at Barbie's naivete, rather than getting upset at what it's showing to be true about our society. I was also a little disappointed that when the Barbies take back Barbieland, they show that they don't want to treat Kens as equal, they want the power.

Oppenheimer isn't an easy movie, but I think it's a good one for people to see. My suggestion is to *not* see the show at night if you can avoid it. Leaving the movie and then going to sleep soon afterwards wouldn't be conducive to getting a peaceful night's sleep. Our showing was at 11:30AM or such, so after the movie, we walked out into sunshine and then had several hours before going to bed. That helped me process and not be too depressed before going to sleep.
