Pyromania!
May. 24th, 2020 10:38 pmYesterday it was cold, in the high 50s, and at night it got down to low 40s. (It was one of those weird days where the high temp was during the previous night and the temp plummets during the day.)
So I decided to have the last fire in the fireplace of the year. This is about the 3rd time I've said that, but maybe this time for sure.
A couple years ago Valerie picked up one of those metal portable firepits from freecycle, and we'd never used it. Jocelyn said, this is the time! So we had memorial day one day early, and had a cookout (though we cooked veggie burgers and grilled eggplants, so not terribly traditional). We toyed with the idea of cooking over the firepit -- it's the same diameter as a weber and the grill fits -- but we decided to go with regular charcoal in the weber after all. We did, however, build a fire in the firepit and make s'mores. Then we put on a chimney log, which was of a shape so it looked like a fire-breathing dragon for a while, which was cool. Lots of colors in the very hot inside. I didn't take any pictures because pictures of fire often look stupid, they miss all the nuances. Well, my crummy phone, anyway.
