Not just one, but two prides!
Jun. 9th, 2024 10:08 pmI went to Boston pride parade yesterday, which was fun. The weather was perfect. Saw lots!
Then today my town had a little pride thing. They don't have a walking parade, instead they have a driving parade, and we are on the route, so usually we go stand out and wave flags and stuff. Today, unfortunately, it was raining. But we braved the rain anyway, and waved wet flags. Turns out we recently acquired a fairly large flag which I was able to wave around to great effect; it is made of some synthetic material and so it is lightweight and it does not matter if it gets wet.
Then, they have some kind of a little festival, but last year it was a little lame because they hadn't arranged for any food trucks, and so it was only the snack bar in the park, and they hadn't told them, so there was only one person on staff making hotdogs, so it was really slow trying to get food. I mean, it starts at noon! People are going to come expecting to eat. So, I decided not to go stand in the rain for the festival part (they said they had tents but I was skeptical), so we just had the five minutes waving flags as people drove by and honked and waved at us.
Then later in the afternoon we had our polyamory support group in person at our house. Since we're still acting like there's Covid, unlike everybody else, we wanted it to be outside. So Friday I bought a canopy so that we could all sit out of the rain. Turned out to be more difficult put the canopy together than I expected it to be (I didn't really read any reviews; I was aiming for size and availability). But we kind of wanted one anyway, because we're going to have a party later this month, and I would like there to be more ways to be out of the sun (today, problem was rain, though it quit before the event started). So, it's still erected, though if it blows a lot it will probably be bad, so we need to disassemble it at least somewhat before there's like big weather. We hung our pride flags all around the canopy, because why not.
