In 1976, there was a cross-country biking route in honor of the bicentennial. someone who had done it gave a reminiscent talk at our library a couple of years ago. Some of the ride was just along the shoulder of highways and such, but there were also small towns and national parks. The total distance was 4250 miles

30 miles a day would "only" take five-six months, depending on rest and tourism (and then one would have to get back)
