Quick West Coast trip

nosrednaydujJocelyn was in a show this weekend, Friday and Saturday. I decided that I would come watch it. So I booked some tickets to Portland.
She's also in school and very busy, so she didn't really have time to see me on Thursday, so I went skiing at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood. It was tremendous. I should've worn a warmer sweater, but it was OK.
I stayed with a square dance friend who lives in the area, though a 20 minute drive from Jocelyn's apartment, so it was not perfect. However it was better than a hotel (and cheaper too!) And it was fun to catch up with the friend. It turned out that on Thursday evening her son had a concert at school, and so we went. They were pretty good, so it was enjoyable rather than a chore.
I spent Friday with Jocelyn, mostly just hanging out, and then she went to the preshow call and I had dinner and headed off to the show. Unfortunately my friend neglected to buy tickets online in time and they were sold out, so she didn't get to go. I videoed Jocelyn's act with my phone, and it came out kind of lame but you could still pretty much see what was going on, so I got to show the video to my friend this morning. There will also be a professional video and it will be interesting to see that, because it will be of this evening's show which I did not see, so it will be interesting to compare.
Parking cost $3. "How cute, you're trying to be a city" is my friend's response to certain things in Portland, because she has lived in much more expensive places like Boston and San Francisco.
Today I flew down to Sacramento ($70, can't beat that) and had dinner with my stepfather and my stepbrother. Which was really great. My stepfather was all worried that when my mom died that I would forget him. But I will not do that.
I was Covid careful through my entire trip except for this evening's dinner, though I did manage to score outdoor seating at the restaurant, which would make it safer. It was a little bit chilly; there were some outdoor heaters, but we were not close enough to one, and we eventually got chilled and had to break off our conversation and go home. But it was still good to see everybody. Nobody seemed to be coughing. So maybe I will have dodged this bullet. We will see in a few days after I get home.
Fly home tomorrow; recover from trip on Monday, which is a holiday. I will be Covid careful on the flight.
