… Given that Valerie is still sick with Covid, having a Paxlovid rebound, but I just tested positive. So far I'm thinking not to get Paxlovid, but I might rethink that tomorrow or the next day if I seem to be dying. Right now it's just a sore throat. I'm hiding in my room, and Ken is decamping to safer shores tomorrow morning, after which both Valerie I can come out of our rooms as long as if he needs to come get something, we go back into our rooms for a few hours before he comes, to let our viruses settle. Anyway will see if this plan works or if he decides to come back and take his chances with viruses but getting to be where all his stuff is.

Valerie has a lot more stuff in her room than I have in mine. But Jocelyn is in Portland, so I can use her room as an office, as long as I'm still feeling fine. So I brought up my computers and some other stuff, and after Ken decamps, I will figure out what other stuff I might need in case it ends up being me up here for the duration.

I took Paxlovid last August and did not rebound (to my knowledge). There's no real way to tell if it helped me more than a placebo, but I would lean towards taking it.

I'm another Paxlovid rebounder; end-to-end it was about three weeks of not-fun, with a few days in the middle when I thought I was done.

For me the Paxlovid correlated well with a huge decrease in symptoms, but hard to say if I was at that point in the progression anyway. I had one night of scary-high fever but that was already done with. The Paxlovid gave me what might have been weird liver symptoms but those calmed down; not sure how I feel about a repeat though.

I tried to isolate from T at home (and I found out about my exposure 12 hours after it happened so it wasn't wholly unrealistic), but she eventually got some mild covid symptoms for a couple of days that exactly matched mine even though she tested negative. My theory is that a very low-load exposure helped her immune system get ramped up early to deal with it.
