TICKS! Ugh!
May. 17th, 2026 09:19 pmThe other day I noticed something bugging me on the back of my ear. It didn't come off easily, so I had someone look at it, and it turned out to be a tick!
Then, today, after taking a shower, I discovered a tick crawling on me! How did it survive a shower? I washed all my parts, because I was covered in sunscreen and sweat and dirt.
We think I got today's tick by lying on the grass to detach the boat trailer from the car – it's a headache to get the safety chains on and off the new hitch on the Kia. No idea about the tick earlier this week; I have been doing an enormous amount of work outdoors, though mostly I have not been lying on the ground, or even sitting on the ground.
We've been checking me for rashes around the affected area. So far, so good: no Lyme.
Why I was detaching the boat trailer: the power boat is in the water. We didn't go waterskiing, because it was a bit windy, and the water is still a bit chilly, so I at least would need a wetsuit. Tuesday and Wednesday it is going to be 90, so I expect that there will not be any wetsuits needed after that. Today it was 85. It might be good enough now for me, but I have not checked. (My minimum is 70.)
