Today we took the dock out of the lake. I didn't measure the water temp, but "fucking freezing" is approximately correct. 1/4 inch wetsuits and not warm enough booties and not good enough gloves. We left a couple nuts we dropped on the bottom rather than recovering them, which would have required submerging not-well-enough-covered head. But the job took only about an hour and a hot shower later we were all happy.
Also did the last of the raking, and then took a short bike ride. I'm at 1920.5 for the year, so there's hope for getting the 2000 before Dec 31.
Monday they start taking our heating system apart and replacing it. Unfortunately, it will take a whole week, during which we'll have no heat on the first floor. Thinking about whether we can do more than just distribute a bunch of inadequate space heaters around. We'll have heat on the upper floors, at least. Then, the following week they'll do some work on the upstairs zone; I don't know how long that will take. Less time, we think, because there's less to replace.
