So it wasn't enough to ride 10 miles for my exercise, I also got roped into finishing putting in the dock. The water's 73 degrees, warm enough to swim without protection, but for standing around in the water for 2 hours punctuated by heavy lifting and cursing, it's better to use a wetsuit. We dropped a couple of nuts; I didn't dive for them, but they're near the feet of the uprights that hold up the dock, so shouldn't be hard to find later this summer.
When we put in the first part of the dock a few weeks ago, I had the idea we should be doing a photo essay of "how to put this together". However, I forgot about that for this task and so we don't have it for this part. Which is slightly unfortunate because this half is the hard half with a lot of tricky leveling, squaring, and to do it, temporary staging, all in 5 feet of water. It's basically a huge erector set. "Equipment required: 4 1/2 inch wrenches, 2 9/16 inch sockets, a hammer, 2 people over 5 foot 8 inches..."
Then, we learned that there was a space station flyover at 9:50pm, so we went out with chairs and sat on the newly assembled dock parts, so we got to benefit from our work!
