I got another flat tire, on Wednesday. So that's just over a month from the previous one. I dithered about whether to go buy a new tire at the bike shop right now, but instead I patched the tube, and have now ordered a "gatorskins" tire, which are supposedly good at preventing flats. It will also be a slightly narrower tire, and it's possible that I will like this better. It might have one strange advantage, which is that my bike has a center stand, and with wide tires, they are also "tall tires", and it makes the center stand not really work. So, by having a narrower tire, I'll get the equivalent of a longer support bar in the center stand, and it might stay upright better. Center stands have some advantages, but they also have a disadvantage of not having as much lean angle, so they're not quite as stable. So now I will have to decide, when the tire arrives, whether to switch to it right away, or wait until I get yet another flat.

What I had planned to do on Wednesday was to ride my bicycle to outdoor yoga. Unfortunately, the bicycle part didn't happen, but I did go to outdoor yoga in the car, and had a nice time. I'm not 100% happy with their "social distancing"; there is a grassy area, but there is also an open air stage, and the rest of the students were using the open air stage. The teacher was across the grassy area (you can sort of think of this grassy area as an orchestra pit; it is depressed, and then there's a raised area further away from the stage, also grassy, but with some paved paths, and the instructor was on the paved path right at the edge of the half wall). I decided to set up in the grassy area, but it turns out that grass is not flat, and so there were lumps below my hands and feet, which were a pain. But, the open air stage is cement, and I wasn't happy with the amount of padding that just one mat would be. Next time I might bring a second mat for more padding. Then I will be unhappy with the distancing. Nobody wore a mask; I thought about it, but my distance, down there in the grassy area, was pretty far from anybody else.

As a bug flew past my nose, it occurred to me that with different weather, it might be buggy. The day was very cool and overcast – it even rained on our heads a little bit – but I can see that it might be unpleasant if there were bugs. I often go to hot yoga on purpose, so the temperature itself shouldn't bother me.

Outdoor Tai Chi has been both masked and distanced. I felt safe. The ground was not entirely flat, though, which left me sore after the first time. I have only been to outdoor knitting group once, because not all the members feel that a face covering is needed if there is fresh air and distance. I want it all.
